ParticipantRetail of Silver Needles in China is one or two times higher than that even in small retail shops in lower rent area. Lower than 400 RMB/500g is unusual or for only poorer qualities. US25/500 g was collection price long ago only for poorer qualities. I don’t think they were able to buy at that price at all.

ParticipantThe sugar suggestion is great. This is the first time I have a sweetened tea without the bad aftertaste, and the taste of the tea can be strong without the bitterness. I used the white crystal. I used and Assam FOP this time, but I think any tea can be fine. Will try again. Thank you!

ParticipantI’ll try that. Thanks. I think I’ll try raw sugar sugar again, last time it was really too dominating.

ParticipantIt’s gone a year or so after Leo left MingCha. It used to have the best oolongs and Dragon Well, and the best pu-erh for the price, and very very nice purple clay tea pots in beautiful display. Small tea house but the best in all my travels. Maybe the most talked about tea house in magazines and newspapers! That’s all gone now.
They operate a semi-teahouse somewhere in Quarry Bay in a factory building. Only a few tea selections. If you want to go, you can find the address in the mingcha.com.hk website. Not the same any more. Even the website is totally different.

ParticipantIt is not so difficult to modify the water tray to make a hose. You can buy a hose, a gas outlet jet, and some silicon with very little money and with a bit of skill, you can have what you want in an hour.
Impossible to find proper spare parts otherwise. I tried.Amuk
Participant@ Leo, I have puzzlement here. How come some very high quality Assam with many golden tips still infuse clear? The creaming down effect happens only to some black tea and not in green or oolong tea. So what explain the “murkiness” in some high quality green tea?
