I will not spam this forum with every tea shop I have visited, but I think this tea shop is worth mentioning because they sell good quality Georgian black tea. The Georgian tea you will find in your average tea shop is… lousy, but this enterprise sells good stuff. The owner will also be happy to share a cup with you and chat for a while (rudimentary English). If you ever visit Georgia (which I strongly recommend), you will find it in Tabidze Street in Tbilisi old town.
pls post photos or other infos. seems very interesting.
Unfortunately I do not have any photos. He has a homepage: http://www.teacoffee.ge, but it is not very informative. The owner has attended a course in tea production at the Ten Fu Tea College in China, so he instructs some Georgian farmers to produce tea to his liking. When I visited Georgia in October 2010 he had only a small amount left, less than 1kg, I bought most of it. Maybe the 2011 harvest was bigger. Maybe he can sell by mail. His name is Shota Bitadze, e-mail sglbl@yahoo.com.
No you are not spamming this forum at all. It seems you really have been going around looking for good tea. I look forward to reading more details of your experiences.
This is interesting. I have read so much about the tea production history there and have not had the opportunity to understand it physically. Have not seen it in any of the trade shows I went. Thank you for sharing the contact.
Would like to know more about tea production in Georgia.
