ParticipantThere are researches in Japan, Taiwan and China about the health effects of oolongs. I have read magazine reports of them, but they are very general. No scientist myself, so I should leave the job to other people to tell about the details. However, many say oolongs have good health effects. It would be nice to read about this in teaguardian.com

ParticipantI think the best way to have puer is still the loose leaf. Cheaper and more convenient and for the same money better taste quality.

ParticipantNot so many people in China know the proper way anyway. People use the gaiwan mostly for making tea quickly and casually, not properly. Most drink from glass or mugs and cups. If hey drink from gaiwan, they use it strangely, or artificially. Leo’s teaching of the proper way is a good break away from China’s version of overly flowery gestures, but maintaining the spirit and gentlemanly way of the tradition.

ParticipantThere are many, many more factories than this. Postings in Wikipedia from sources in China are often done by hired bloggers. Those that are in English are particularly so. They are basically part of their brain-washing motivation. Mainland Chinese have grown up with this, so it is natural for them to do in whatever they do. If you try to search someting in YouTube about any part of recent history in China, you will find many various postings there inserted by people who want to change the reality of things happened.

ParticipantHokusai, that small teahouse you bought from has been there for many years. They often over fire their tea all the time and mix new batches with the old all the time disregard of quality. It is good that you have experienced so called ‘traditional’ style teashop and their quality. This is part of the education. I paid my share too

ParticipantThis is beautiful. Really like the idea of the multiple meaning of the use of Hong in your tea shop. Love it.
The Xiamian (Shamian?) area is still lined with old colonial buildings, a distinct look from the rest of Guangzhou and used to be quite a romantic spot. Though now it is too much flooded with commercialization and walker-bys.Longjing 43
ParticipantPlease consider also writing about the health benefits of oolong.

ParticipantI was also drinking ginseng oolong for a few years too. However, I learned that was not good from some famous tea shop owner and stopped it for a year now. That was Leo Kwan! I was so happy to find this web site and can read about his idea again!
He described the steps in making ginseng oolong and even if it is hygienic, it is not that appealing to me after knowing it.There are so many other oolongs with different tastes. It is not necessary to drink one with licorice powder. -
