Some teas are more “tippy” and some not, but if I understand the matter correctly there was never made a tea made only from tips. At least I never heard of one and couldn’t find one. So my question is this, was there ever or is there made tea only from tips. And my second question is, would it be good or it would lost something from flavour.
Thanks for any insight, I am really curious.
Enjoy your tea.
There are some green teas made from only the tips, and also the famous white tea Silver Needle. I once saw a Yunnan black tea with only golden tip, too bad I did not take a photo and did not try it.
Oh, I see, thanks for the information, sofie1212. I never realized that Silver Needle is tips only. Good to know.
This is the Silver Needle photo from Tea Guardian, see?

You can read about it here: https://www.teaguardian.com/tea-selection-guide/white-tea-silver-needle.html#.UnzySihmn5g
in black tea category only tip buds used in some kind of dianhong, and wuyi jing jun mei. some people make only tip black tea for buyers to blend tea. too many green tea use only tip to make.
Darjeeling produces some of the teas from the tea tips only. That is the tea buds. Its called silver needles or golden needles depending on the type of tea.
