      Hi there fellow Dialogues members,

I have good news for you. The new kraft paper pack is in place now at Tea Hong. It provides superior protection for tea quality and can stand on its own! Since the size is different from the old one, we are also revising the prices. I am telling it first here before sending out the mass email to our contact base, so do take this opportunity of new low price to get what you want. A lot of the products are going much faster than we expected and many are already sold out.

      Hi Siu,

Thank you for posting the good news.  Could you please let me know how many new kraft-alu packs can fit in 1 “tea set box”?
      Thanks.

Two. Except that they will not completely fill the box. A paper spacer is used to fill the gap and the overall actually looks nicer than before. We are arranging a picture of it. Hopefully we can post that in a day or two.

Just put in an order.  I’d had a cart full of stuff for a while and was wondering why it was suddenly less than before.

Naturally, I used that gap to buy a few extra of a different type!

I hope the new packs serve us all well.  Small bummer on the change in quantity (though that means the prices are [mostly?] lower in absolute dollars – no idea on relative cost), though on the Congu it felt like it was almost too full at the old 85g.  I certainly crushed some leaves for the first couple times sealing it back up.  Ah well, TeaHong’s still in the growing stage, who knows what tomorrow brings?

I do have one question, though:  Will TeaHong ever support multiple packaging options?  That is, different weights of the same tea in either the kaddy or the pack?  Or perhaps sample options?

      M.

Indeed, we will have multiple pack size options in the future, but that’s when we have set the track properly first. This is Leo’s baby at its baby stage  😉

As for absolute price, meaning price/gram of tealeaves, most are actually lowered (except for some of the originally very low margin ones; and those matureables that have already appreciated in price), because we think the lowered item price will increase sales and thus overall margin, so we can use that to further offset the item price. I hope everyone will like that!

That makes sense.  It’ll also give incentive to some (me) to try newer ones, as they don’t lose out if it’s not their…cup of tea!

      Ha!

      😀

I think you need ample quantity for at least a few trials to know a new tea. I think the new packaging seems to be good for that. I’ll have to wait for my new order to come in to see.

Good point.  I ordered some of those magnolia cups, so now I’ll be able to do much better gongfu approaches.

:-)) smart. I actually like the old pack size better. This time, I may have to order two or three of the same thing to save postage. Wonder when larger pack will be available.

If you buy from a local teashop, you don’t have to pay shipping at all and you don’t have to wait. You can buy as much or as little as you want.

I kind of have one, but I don’t like them and their selection is bad.

And then there’s a health-food store, but they store the leaves in clear containers facing the glass front door.  Who knows how long that’s been there?

Those shops may have same name products there and for a fortune, I could get some excellent Darjeeling, but for the years I have lived in both London and New York, I had no idea of real Chinese tea quality until the first Tea Hong package arrived. The definition of tea changed since.

BTW, the price together with shipping, if you buy smart, is actually lower, and for much, much better quality. Shop smart my friend.

I do rather like the look of the new bags.  My only complaint with the old ones was that they couldn’t stand.
