I watched the B/W one, I know there is another more newer one but have not watched it. China was much much worse. Cultural revolution was more cruel and more barbarian.Big Brother watched over everyone’s life through the people next to you, including your wife or your son or daughter. Materials were so not enough everything was rationed. Very wrong people have power. It was hell. Perhaps it was beyond the imagination of any writer. I think I shall find a Chinese translation of the book. Perhaps the book is different from the movie.
