Thank you both for your advice. I tried the the longer infusion times and a slightly higher amount of tea, about 3g to 90mL. Indeed, the character of the tea shifted quite a bit towards the black tea spectrum, with a good deal more astringency balancing out the sweetness of the insect bitten leaves.
With these parameters, I found that I most enjoyed a two minute infusion, which yielded a rich and well balanced tea liquor without overwhelming the sweet and fruity notes.
